games's Issues

I have been making a script json2markdown

Hi.

The last months, I was seeing how to grow the markdown file.

And I thought that maybe it is good separate the data and "the format" (I don't know the word in english sorry).

And I think in to save the data in JSON file and for the template in Mustache syntax (all tecnologies are standar).

Well, I started to develop it.

You can check the progress in:

https://github.com/mdtrooper/games/tree/json_data

There are not all games, it is only some of games from the list.

But for to continue, I want to write you:

Do you think is good "this method" for your master repository?

Is the people capable to fill a JSON instead a huge markdown file?

Regards, and thanks for the repository 🍻

Add table of contents to README

There was a great idea in #33 to add a table of contents to the README.md file. Anyone comfortable with markdown interested in tackling it?

Three games: Browser turn-based mmorpg (PHP / CakePHP) + Tower Defense (Javascript) + Shoot 'em up (Javascript)

Hi,

I've a few Open Source games in my Github account that might be worth checking out.

The MMORPG is not in development anymore but has a pretty huge feature list that might be interesting for people working on similar projects.
github.com/Casmo/Naxasius-Game-Engine

  • Browser based
  • PHP / MySQL / HTML
  • Working demo (link in the repository).

The Tower Defense is written with the famous Three.JS 3D library for WebGL. This is in active development and has a working demo online.
Version 1: github.com/Casmo/three.tower-defense
Version 2: github.com/Casmo/tower-defense

  • HTML5 / Javascript
  • WebGL
  • Both have a working demo (link in the repository).

I build a 3D classic "shoot 'em up" based on the classic Raptop: Call of the Shadows game from MS-Dos. Game is written also written in Three.JS. Game has a full working demo with one level. There are 4 weapons already and has plenty of interesting features.
github.com/Casmo/Drakonas

  • HTML5 / Javascript
  • WebGL
  • Working demo (link in the repository).

Update to the list - libRocket

libRocket is a UI middleware library that allows people to write UIs in RML/RCSS, which are based on HTML/CSS.
It's not strictly for games but that seems to be the primary use case. I believe it qualifies for a list of frameworks that speed game development, but it's up to the list maintainers.
The repo is at: https://github.com/librocket/librocket

EbbeFlut - add request

A board game called "ebbe und flut" (low tide and high tide) was on the selected games list in 2001.

2004 I implemented it in Java 1.2 and also added a simple AI to it. It even worked on a Zaurus device (with QtPalmtop/Opie OS) at that time a really nice 'pocket pc' without a phone but with a nice keyboard. The code itself is really ugly so better you rewrite it from scratch instead of learning or looking into it ;). It works pretty well but the UI is rather simplistic. The project is an old netbeans project but should be easy to import in other environments as there is only one java package. The license is under GPL but you can use it under whatever license you like.

https://github.com/karussell/ebbeflut

There is a description as PDF/latex included (German / English) or here is another one in German.

Desperate Gods is not open source

According to the relevant GitHub page, Desperate Gods (https://github.com/David20321/FTJ) is not open source:

This repository is public for convenience and for personal use, but is not licensed for redistribution in whole or in part. We are open to issuing free permissive licenses for mods or code pieces, but you will just have to get our permission first [...]

Brood War API - add request

It looks like the Brood War API is exactly the type of project that could go under "Maps/Hacks/Plugins/Utilities/All of the Things™". I haven't personally played with it, but it seems to be an interface for writing AIs for the Brood War Starcraft expansion.

https://github.com/bwapi/bwapi

Suggestion: Duality

I'm suggesting to add the Duality Framework to the list of engines / frameworks.

It's a 2D game framework based on OpenTK, implementing a extensible plugin architecture and providing a visual editor. More information can be found here

Hi there! Thanks for running this awesome, useful list!

I was part of a team that created an MMORPG based in a browser toolbar, called PMOG, the Passively Multiplayer Online Game.

The server code is here: https://github.com/gamelayers/PMOG-OS
The client (Firefox toolbar) code is here: https://github.com/gamelayers/PMOG-FF-EXT-OS

Let me know if I can answer any questions here! I hope this source code might be useful to other game developers.

BTW - we also released the business documents, financial statements, term sheets, contracts, in-game analytics: open-sourcing our business process. All that is available here: http://links.net/vita/gamelayers/

Cheers!

Justin
