Oh, man, do not revert these changes. Just change configure.ac to not build the documentation if makeinfo >= 5 is not istalled
from liblouis.
So the average MacOSX user is not worthy of getting docs?
from liblouis.
I forgot to say, possibly more importantly: As there is an option to
disable building docs, wouldn't it be better that the person compiling
explicitly decides that docs should not be built explicitly?
from liblouis.
So, the average documentation writer is stuck with makeinfo 4? Common, at what level are we going to discuss this here?
If people can't install makeinfo 5 they will not get their locally built documentation. But the documentation is online anyway and I doubt that most people are even aware that they have documentation locally.
There will not be an option. The configure script will look for makeinfo >= 5 and will build the documentation if it finds it and warn you otherwise. Currently it stops altogether.

@egli Okay I'm happy with your solution too. As long as the build works again for everyone.

@mwhapples I have been searching for hours for the option to disable building the docs. I can't find anything, can you help me with this info?
from liblouis.
@tobltobs there is no option to disable building the documentation. ATM you will have to install makeinfo 5. I'm working on #71 which will disable the building of the documentation if makeinfo is not installed or too old.

Any chances that this issue will be fixed?
Or can someone give me a hint how to modify the sources to enable a build again?
from liblouis.
This should be fixed now as we merged #71
