these elements are very different, this should not be easy to achieve. A good start with LitElement is Monica talk at IO : https://youtu.be/we3lLo-UFtk?t=596
and lit-html guide :
https://polymer.github.io/lit-html/guide/

@eufat I'm compiling examples and best practices in a separate repository for now, especially useful when coming from PolymerElement. https://github.com/LarsDenBakker/lit-html-examples

this material should be added to the wiki or linked from the README (or somehow made more accessible), along with proper use--I've been having enough problems that I can't practically get work done with LitElement, which dilutes its value

This was published as an article:

https://lit.dev/articles/lit-for-polymer-users/

Unfortunately it's not very discoverable because we haven't finished article support.

This helps me a lot. Thanks. What a pitty that lit-element docs are silent about this and are even missing important parts like the @input for controls - just cost me a day before i found this doc.

@JoernT thanks for the feedback (and for the link, which I'll direct other people to until we have an official doc).

Can you clarify what you mean by @input? Do you mean using the @event format for adding event listeners? This is mentioned both in the page on templates and the page on events. Is there a disconnect here? Or was it the idea of using @event when replacing two-way binding?
