@njx, yeah, we discussed this a bit in the comments on Pull Request #5. Also, some people have Themes activated that already have the border there and some don't. The short term solution is to change the style in the CSS as described in the discussion.

The longer term solution is to use the new preferences system to set this. Other options might be progressive background shading and "no-gap" versions of the indent guide (if I can ever figure out how to do it in CodeMirror overlays).

I will put a reminder in the README.md because I eventually want to add in the preferences.

Actually, I will just use this issue as the reminder.

@njx, actually I had an idea on this today. I can put in a context menu entry to toggle the first indent guide on or off. It's not the ideal, Preferences-based solution I ultimately want to use, but it's better than making people change the CSS.

@njx, actually, now that I have learned a bit more about the new Preferences system, I am going to make the choice available through the brackets.json or .brackets.json file. That way, moving the Preferences to the Preference Dialog Boxes in the not too distant future will be simple.

However, I am going to change the default back to showing the first indent guide and allow people to remove the first indent guide as a preference.

Added a hideFirst preference. People who do not want the first indent guide to be drawn should set this preference to true. It's default value is false, so this issue is addressed. Closing as fixed.
