[DRAIN]/extra_delimiters - delimiters to apply when splitting log message into words (in addition to whitespace) ( default none). Format is a Python list e.g. ['_', ':'].
A plain (and not very accurate) explanation: Drain splits each log message into words and clusters them by the similarity ratio - two messages may end up in the same cluster if the percentage of equal words in them is above 'sim_th'.
In some use cases, you may get better results when splitting words also by underscores and not only spaces. Otherwise, a log like Transaction result: runtime_error_host_address_not_defined will contain only 3 words (Transaction, Result:, runtime_error_host_address_not_defined)
from drain3.
