Do you have some use cases besides the brand?

Personally, I use it to represent the Tor network. So, the answer is no. Others may use it in a different way. The Font Awesome has an onion icon, and it's awesome if Lucide added it too.

Additionally, another icon could represent a turned-off state, like an onion with a slash on it.
