this was an issues years ago, the source code never get to release so you know the rest.
from macos-dell-latitude-e7470.
There were builds where it was working( Dr Hurt's, and some more devs), but they haven't been updated. Moreover, the most updated kext is of 1revenger1, which unfortunately doesn't detect the trackpad.
Also, there were discussions in the Acidanthera bug tracker about this, but it didn't reach to any conclusion(yet?).
But I'm happy with the current build status. If this gets fixed somehow, it'll definitely be awesome.

oh yeah forgot about that too, it's just nothing happen anymore, i've given up hope.

If you set it up as I've pictured, there appears to be no issues. For example if you choose the not needed option to tap bottom right for secondary click, the mouse will behave terribly. Right now I am testing one gesture at a time. Some work, some may have negative effects. I've also disconnected the external wired mouse now and no issues after reboot.
I also dual boot win10 and the constant freezing has disappeared.
Does not function while charging. That's not good.
Did you mean Trackpad doesn't function while charging?
from macos-dell-latitude-e7470.
Yeah. I got too excited there. Seems to be quite a few glitches to iron out. I am re-installing and trying from Mojave. I am not going to give up.
The kext i linked to behaves to the level of not usable when i plugged in the charger. I've been unable to get hdmi working and that isn't the issue here but plugging an hdmi cable produces the same result, which is jumping to lower right of screen and freezing a few seconds. The process happens often.Just about to run opencore 6.8 based on this efi with only required changes.
Did you try using this kext with Big Sur? Do keep us updated regarding your experiments.

Hey. Just want to let everyone know I am using Catalina with working settings functions and for now what seems to be a well functioning trackpad. So far it seems I've had most success at a smooth operation, no glitches, no freezing while having a wired mouse attached. But, I am just starting to test settings and I turned off clicking bottom right corner for secondary click because the button works. Enabling 2 finger tap for secondary works. Too proud to detach the wired mouse due to excellent results. I will soon.
I've deleted all voodoo kexts from this efi. I'll provide a link to the kext i am using. I've placed it in OC kexts as well as installed to SLE with Hackintool. (csrutil disable in recovery).
I'd also like to thank the creator of this efi, adityabakare for making this for the E7470!

2 finger gestures already work with the current VoodooPS2 kext. Do 3 and 4 finger gestures work with the kext that you've attached?
Also, can you provide the source(the git repository maybe) for the attached kext. In won't try unless I know where it came from.
Pardon for the late reply. I was busy with something.
And yes I'll update the EFI too now.

First of all, thanks for your great work. I wanted to ask if it's possible that two finger gestures (namely Pinch to zoom and horizontal scroll) would work on Big Sur as well? If you've got them working, could you please provide me with the appropriate kext?
Regards

I've been looking at this from an end-user point of view and not a developer, which i am clearly not. I'll try and do the best I can here.
The kext I am using is a hack job of two kexts. I am using the latest release of https://github.com/acidanthera/VoodooPS2/releases
I took parts from this and placed it into an unknown kext. Specifically the plist of the trackpad plugin. It appears to be version 6.0 of rehabman's kext, the Dr. Hurt version compiled from someone else. Info:
https://osxlatitude.com/forums/topic/8285-refined-alps-touchpad-driver/
I do not believe I am using the version 6.0 that is listed on this page as it is because it produces different results than the one I found. I am assuming it was altered at least once before I altered it.
This does not give fully operational multi-touch gestures. It does give a trackpad settings menu (user-end chocolate covered candy), as well as two 3 finger gestures. The mouse does operate well and only seems to become unoperational when hdmi out is plugged in. This might be an actual intent of the kext rather than an error, as it completely stops as opposed to poor movement, lag etc. No other functions cause the mouse to stop. (plugging in charger/usb).
Finally, this is the hackjob kext combined from the first link and an unknown download I obtained from somewhere I believe to be the OSX latitude site, yet no longer can say due to so many OS changes/hd formatting

My E7470 does not have a touchscreen so I am using the EFI from here without the included voodoo kexts and 2 acpi files, replaced by 2 created from hackintool while working with USB port limit. Also, I have upgraded opencore to 6.8
Hope this helps and thanks for providing this EFI

The one I've included only has 2 finger vertical swipes and left click working.

Alright, I'll have a look at the kext. Can't guarantee anything, but hope this at least makes the trackpad work on Big Sur(The previous ones that I had tried did not).

It seems like you are using Catalina. Is it working for you in Big Sur or can you share the kext you are using ?
from macos-dell-latitude-e7470.
how did you manage to get the trackpad to show up in settings? can you pleeeeease share your Kext?
thanks

Another user is attempting to update the VoodooPS2-ALPS kext. This driver doesn't currently support the ALPS v8 trackpad in the Latitude E7470. Hopefully support will be added in the future.
