I see that there is implemented a Stop() function for this control, but 1) it then collapses the control making possibly other controls shift and 2) no Start() to counteract it :) I'll add some Start() code there one sec... also because of the stopping of the animation the cubes stay in start-up position which is visible, so I guess it's ok to play with opacity value in Start/Stop functions? Dunno, something that @Aeoth might want to comment maybe...

Something like the ProgressRing IsActive property seems to be a better way for me...

I tried it but there were static and non-static difference issues and Stop() was already implemented by someone, so this is better than nothing I guess.

To extend this, binding the Visibility doesn't work.

You should use a setter rather which has a lower binding priority (assigning Visibility explicitly cannot be overridden by a trigger or binding), or start/stop based on the visibility
