The current implementation only supports a single background image. If you want to have multiple, you'll need to alter the underlying code, but it's not likely to be a feature in the near future.

Do you know how to go about implementing it? I'm trying a few things, but maybe if you could lead me in the right directon. Really need this feature!

Making it so that the image in the middle is just bigger?

You would want to add a full-screen image view to the back of each page, under the text/icons.
