This also affects Rubinius, maybe some less complicated logic could be used?

sorry for the delay getting back - I've not had much time recently to work on Dragonfly.
This is fixed in 8105147 (it's easy to work around so like you say, even though it's a JRuby bug it's worth doing).

The tests all work now for JRuby, and also for Rubinius except for a couple which appear to be Rubinius bugs which it's not worth the effort getting around (especially as they're not crucial to general Dragonfly use).

It'll be included in the next release
