Are you sure it's the spaces causing the issue?
I couldn't reproduce the problem.

Which gem version of aws/s3 do you have, and which operating system are you using?

aws-s3 (0.6.2)
dragonfly (0.5.7)

▸ ruby -v
ruby 1.8.7 (2010-01-10 patchlevel 249) [x86_64-linux]

I also tested this (and the fix) with the same gems on heroku with aspen-mri-1.8.6 stack.

I'm getting issues with files with spaces in their names as well, will investigate further tomorrow.

Do you think it might be the colon character from your example?
Although it works with me on heroku aspen-mri it gives a truncated uid.

(I know your fix works - I'm just trying to understand the problem)

Hey, sorry for the gigantic lag. I don't think it was the colon, I could not find the specific cause but I'm pretty sure the problem where the spaces.

The new version gets rid of funny characters as per your fix
