What distribution/version are you running into this on?

That would be the issue, is a RHEL/CentOS init.d script. Will make sure to clarify that. If you are able to craft something that works and can submit a pull request, I'll add it, otherwise I'll give it a stab for the next release.

Writing init.d scripts isn't my area of expertise, but I'll certainly give it a go.

I am getting a similar issue on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS, after making the fix for libs suggested above and changing only the following 2 things:

# Application
   APP="/usr/local/bin/newrelic_plugin_agent"

# Source function library.
  /lib/lsb/init-functions

Everything actually seems to work, even though I get the following error on start...

Starting /usr/local/bin/newrelic_plugin_agent: /etc/init.d/newrelic_plugin: line 68: success: command not found
/etc/init.d/newrelic_plugin: line 68: failure: command not found

I'm getting: "Missing required configuration file value" when i try to run the new .deb version of the init.d script. Any ideas?

Edit: Ubuntu 12.04 x64 on AWS
