I do find it a big deal. Please adhere to the standards of the language or framework you are targeting. I don't really expect large adoption by the community of this specialized file extension. To really be able to work together in a mixed tech team with people using their IDE of choice we shouldn't impose these kinds of specifics.

I was excited about hearing the Angular Language Service was coming to Visual Studio and then I saw it only supported .ngml and I promptly went back to VS Code. I'm currently switching back and forth between VS Code (for Angular/TypeScript) and Visual Studio (for C#). Would love to have proper implementation that supports .html templates so I could stay in Visual Studio.

Yea, with the Angular Cli integration in ASP.NET Core this is a big deal, since it can't process the .ngml files out of the box. There is no way to add this extension to be processed as html files, since there are no webpack files unless you eject them, but then most of the benefits of angular-cli are kinda gone

Definitely need to change from .ngml to .html, like @ryanbuening I'm switching between VS code for front end and VS Studio for API, but would like to just stick to a single one. Seems poor that VS code gives you intellisense but the full VS studio now can't. Any chance this will get fixed?

Please note that the Visual Studio extension ReSharper provides great Angular language service support including the html extension: https://www.jetbrains.com/resharper/

Hi @cveld I've tried ReSharper but it doesn't seem to provide any intellisense for me. I've enabled the intellisense for Angular in html in the ReSharper options but still nothing... Frustrating that VS 2017 had this functionality natively but only for ngml files and not html (did anyone ever actually use ngml file??)
