Hi jocooler - thanks for the comment! We are using these json schemas to describe the standard entities, attributes, metadata etc. but they can be used to describe custom entities as well. The .cdm.json has been developed from looking at a variety of standards but it is not aligned with a specific one.
We have shared these schemas and the json definition publicly for feedback and thoughts from the community. Also more details from your scenario would be useful to better understand what you're looking to use this for! Let me know if you'd like to chat offline as well.

Few questions:
- Is there any update on 1.0 release?
- What are the updates on Open Data Initiative?
