The idea is not to paste it. The idea is that clicking an icon will put it in top of your clipboard history so you can transform it with Advanced Paste.
If you just want to pick something from clipboard history to paste it, please use the OS Win+V shortcut.

Ohhh. That makes a lot more sense. I think this should be made more clear in the help documentation. In either case, this specific issue is resolved.
