The justification for using Azure SQL DB in the lab is to simulate a migration from a RDBMS to Azure Cosmos DB (a commonly requested workflow).
There are options:
- We could migrate a flat data file (JSON/CSV/etc) to Cosmos DB.
- We could use the Data Migration tool.
This seems like a good fit for the next major update to the course. Any other MCTs have an opinion?

Yes, local file is fine too.

I like your proposal of migrating from flat file(s).
Students learn about Blob Storage in AZ-204, so this file-to-CosmosDB migration would align perfectly, without introducing new technologies in the lab itself.
Any kind of database-to-database migration would best fit into DP-050, DP-060 and DP-070. For CosmosDB DP-060 would be the closest fit.

I wouldn't recommend uploading the flat file to Blob Storage. It would be as simple as having a flat file in the Allfiles and then parsing it using a package from NuGet.
