TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'def')

TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'def')

I was using vite.
It seems the language files never gets imported.
I tried importing the lang file from node_modules/validatorjs/src/lang/en or from validatorjs/src/lang/en in vain
I got a error about undefined module in file...
In the end copied the language files to folder in my project root modified them to use export default

export default {

instead of

module.exports = {

In the end was able to make it work!
and dynamically import the language files from there

    console.log(`lang`, lang);
    const language = await import(`../../../validator/${lang}`);
    Validator.setMessages(lang.value, language);
    const validation = new Validator(data, rules, messages);
    if (validation.passes()) return true;

its a bit hacky but I will close this as its resolved
