Thanks! This code seems to do the job:

module Mail
  class Message
    def without_attachments
      return self unless self.has_attachments?
      mail = Mail.new(self.encoded) # copy the mail by re-parsing, self.dup does not work...

      mail.parts.reverse_each do |part|
        mail.parts.delete(part) if part.attachment?
      end

      mail
    end
  end
end

from mail.

The Mail::Parts is an array You can use Array.delete_if in order to remove any parts from the email. Then write back to the Mail into the difk and reopen again. The selected part(s) will disappear.

Hi there,

I think we need to find a better way, if you are still interested in working on it. The problem with the above is that it reparses the email, not a big deal if small, but usually attachment emails are NOT small, so if you have a 3mb email, this process will use about 6-10mb of RAM.
