Not sure if this will work for others, but I found that if I flashed the code to the hexiwear, and then took it off the docking station without first flicking the switch to turn off the docking station, the hexiwear would not wake up again (and would only wake up after being re-docked). However, when I took it off the docking station after it was switched to the off position (and after flashing it with the new .bin file), then clicking on the haptic feedback buttons made it wake back up again. I used the following bin to reset the hexiwear to its default programming: https://os.mbed.com/media/uploads/GregC/hexiwear_factory_k64f.bin

Hi @solarflarefx, I used mbed to generate the bin file, but to flash it, you just need to drag and drop it to Hexiwear (after connecting it to your laptop) if I remember correctly. You can follow some of the steps here for more details: https://os.mbed.com/platforms/Hexiwear/#flash-a-project-binary

I have same issue, I managed to turn on the display when the device is connect to charger. It seems that the power connect or disconnect event turns on the display so I can use it near a charger :)

Is the device battery nearly empty?

Had the same issue but after giving it a full charge as mentioned in the wiki, it works now. Im on KW40 fw 1.0.0 and MK64 fw 1.0.2.

Even shaking the device works to wakeup the screen.

Just tried it both on and off the charger after being plugged in for ~8 hours, same issue. x29a, can you confirm that you have the newest code on yours? The fw version number may not have been updated recently. I just cleaned and rebuilt with a fresh repo download and the issue is still there.

Havent been able to flash my freshly built firmware yet :(

Just to clarify, are you guys on the dockingstation or standalone? I was talking about standalone, on the dockingstation the buttons indeed dont wakeup the screen.

I'm still seeing the issue after a full recharge. Does anyone know how to debug this issue? Any wiki page for debugging?

Thanks,

x29a is on to something, I didn't think to take it off the docking station. After leaving it on the docking station for several hours to charge and then undocking it, it seems to wake up just fine. Still testing on my end to verify. Hope that helps Raduiv.

Thanks guys for the info but unfortunately I don't have a docking station I got the pack with two devices one is working one will not start :). Will see if I manage to debug this issues, is a big issue if you can't start the display :). Do you know if any official support channel from MikroElektronika exists?

I had a problem with the connector on the touch-panel PCB, several of the connector pins were soldered together that shouldn't have been. Consult the schematic and buzz-out the connections on the touch-panel PCB with a multimeter (disconnect the the touch-panel PCB first or you could damage the MCU!) to check. Alternatively, as you've got two devices, simply swap the known good one with the faulty unit, this will quickly determine if the touch-panel's the problem. You can also send a support request using the MikroElektonika Helpdesk link.

Hello, did you find a solution to this problem ? I just got a new Hexiwear and it doesn't wake up unless reset from the docking station ...

jaimezorno avatar jaimezorno commented on July 19, 2024

Anything? Had the same problem. Out of the box Hexiwear was working fine. Modified some of the Firmware using the KDS and the docking station and after resuming and terminating the debug sesion the screen turns on for a while then after it goes into standby i cant get it back on. If i play with the buttons and dont allow it to go black it stays on until i leave it for a while.
Any idea of how to solve this or what might be the cause?

Thanks very much

Hi, I noticed that this happens only with the Hexiwear on the docking station (docking station switch in "on" position).

Hello! Any news on this?
My Hexiwear is still not waking up with the Touch bottons or by shaking it, altough it does wake up and vibrate when I turn on or off the bluetooth from my phone.
Any idea of what could be happening?

Thanks very much

uroscvetinovic avatar uroscvetinovic commented on July 19, 2024

Hi,
If I understand you right, you modified firmware in KDS, and loaded it to Hexiwear.
After that Hexiwear is not waking up?
If that's so, can you please try to load default firmware to it?
If that doesn't fix, please submit a ticket on our helpdesk:

jaimezorno avatar jaimezorno commented on July 19, 2024

Hello!

Yes, I downloaded the HEXIWEAR_master proyect, modified it and loaded it to the device, but thats not the origin of the problem, as I have two devices with exactly the same code loaded and one of the wakes up (with double tap and even shaking) and the other one doesnt.
The device that doesnt wake up with double tap or shake, does however wake up when I turn on the bluetooth on my phone, as ir pairs with it, or when i connect it to an USB port. Also i dont think its a problem with the touch buttons, because when I wake it up, before it suspends I am able to navigate through the menus using all of the buttons.
Any idea of what could be happening?

Thanks very much,
Jaime

Hello,
I have a similar problem on my Hexiwear (MK64 FW v1.0.3, KW40 FW v 1.0.0).

When the device enters sleep mode there is no way to wake it up, the only solution is to reset it from the docking station.

Did you find a solution?

Best,
P

Bought latest kit from mouser arrived 7/1/2018.
I have the same problem - on god boot all works including buttons and BT etc.. with Android app.
Leave for a few seconds then the display goes blank and can only be turned on again by attaching to docking station. Useless, anyone worked out what the problem is - it seems like an old thread now

@sahilmgandhi I am seeing this problem as well and am trying to get started on working with the Hexiwear. What is the easiest way to flash the binary file you linked to? Did you use the mbed online tool?
