youl have to attach those manually... they are somehwere in ~/.gradle/caches/module-2

Because everything else is done for you, why not this.

The only things in .gradle are cache filehashes snapshots ouputfilestates gradle.log and taskartifacts

And how would I do this if IntelliJ keeps changing it back because it updates based off of the build.gradle?

You missed the role in the front ...
The .gradle file in your user directory

it may be problematic though that intellij wipes out the sources when I add them to the forge library because it rebuilds those based off of build.gradle
