Julie Rotter's Projects

amazon_vine_analysis icon amazon_vine_analysis

Analysis of Vine vs. Non-Vine Member Reviews on Outdoor Products :camping: For this project I am using Amazon’s cloud service AWS, Google Colab and Pyspark to analyze Amazon’s reviews for outdoor products. The purpose of this analysis is to determine if there is any bias toward favorable reviews from Vine members.

:petri_dish:Dynamic Dashboard of Belly Button Sample Data - Try it here! :test_tube:

credit_analysis icon credit_analysis

Supervised Machine Learning - Credit Risk on Loan Applications - or this project I am utilizing several models of supervised machine learning on credit loan data in order to predict credit risk. Credit risk is an inherently unbalanced classification problem, as good loans easily outnumber risky loans. I will be using Python and Scikit-learn libraries and several machine learning models to compare the strengths and weaknesses of ML models and determine how well a model classifies and predicts data.

cryptocurrencies icon cryptocurrencies

Unsupervised Machine Learning- CyrptoCurrency Analysis - For this project I am performing unsupervised machine learning on cryptocurrency data in order to discover patterns and groups in data. The purpose of this analysis is to create a report that includes what cryptocurrencies are on the trading market and how they could be grouped in order to create a classification system for potential new investments into the cryptocurrency.

election_analysis icon election_analysis

:ballot_box: In this analysis, I wrote a Python script that generates a vote count per candidate/per county and creates a report for a U.S. congressional race in a Colorado precinct.

final_project_leaflet icon final_project_leaflet

:earth_americas: The Leaflet portion of the Final Project - please look here for more details.

kickstarter-analysis icon kickstarter-analysis

For this data analysis, I am using MS Excel, including interactive pivot tables and charts, conditional formatting, advanced filters, VLOOKUPs, Box and Whiskers Charts, and other advanced Excel formulas.

mapping_earthquakes icon mapping_earthquakes

:earth_americas: An interactive earthquake information map. or this project I am creating an interactive map that shows the latest earthquake activity around the world. Maps allow us to explore, understand and make decisions about our world. Providing data-driven storytelling on disasters around the world and building insightful data visualization with interactive features is a valuable addition to the knowledge and awareness of planet Earth.

mechacar_statistical_analysis icon mechacar_statistical_analysis

Statistical Analysis with R - Summary Statistics, T-Tests, ANOVA-For this project I am performing statistical testing in programming language R for MechaCar car company. Statistical tests provide data-based insight on the company performance and suggest additional testing for comparison of MechaCar company against its competition.

mission-to-mars icon mission-to-mars

:ringed_planet:Web-scraping with HTML and CSS - In this project I am performing web scraping from active NASA websites in order to retrieve information about NASA’s latest article, featured picture, Mars facts and images of Mars Hemispheres. All retrieved data are put together in a single web application to showcase the gathered information.

movie-etl icon movie-etl

:film_projector: :film_strip: For this project I am creating an ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) pipeline using Python, RegEx, and SQL Database. The goal is to retrieve data from different sources, clean and transform it into a useful format and finally load the data into an SQL database where the data is ready for further analysis. The result is an established automated process of Extract, Transform, Load, ready to use again.

neural_network_charity_analysis icon neural_network_charity_analysis

Deep Learning ML Models achieving Continuous Improvement - For this project, I am use Neural Networks Machine Learning algorithms, also known as artificial neural networks, or ANN. For coding, I am use Python TensorFlow library in order to create a binary classifier that is capable of predicting whether applicants will be successful if funded by nonprofit foundation Alphabet Soup. This ML model will help ensure that the foundation’s money is being used effectively.

nyc-bike-sharing-program-dashboard icon nyc-bike-sharing-program-dashboard

:cityscape: Tableau Dashboard for CitiBike NYC Ride Sharing Program :bike: For this project I am creating data visualization with Tableau for bike sharing program in New York City. The idea is to analyze the data, see the mechanics of the business and figure out how the bike share business works in NYC.

pewlett-hackard-analysis icon pewlett-hackard-analysis

In this project, I am using ERDs and Schemas to design databases and writing intermediate-level SQL queries to answer important business questions for the company’s HR department. The information they are researching is the "Silver Tsunami" of retirement ready. The result is a well-structured database with implemented constraints, foreign and primary keys.

pyber_analysis icon pyber_analysis

Ride-Share analysis with Matplotlib. The purpose of this analysis is to perform data analysis for Ride-Share company PyBer and to tell a compelling story with data visualization. This analysis showcases the relationship between the type of the city -- urban, suburban and rural -- and their correlation between rides, drivers and fares, and congregates data from January to early May of 2019 and focuses on the following:

school_district_analysis icon school_district_analysis

Python Pandas at work in the school district. The purpose of this analysis is to aggregate the students’ and schools’ datasets and analyze data on students’ standardized math and reading scores from various schools in the selected districts. I showcase trends in school performance.

stock-analysis icon stock-analysis

Perform Analysis of Stock - VBA stock-market analysis. for this data analysis I used Microsoft Excel and VBA to develop a tool including conditions statements for loops static and conditional formatting, and code refactoring in order to improve its efficiency and clarity.

surfs-up icon surfs-up

:ocean::surfer:Weather Analysis for a Business Plan for A Surf n' Shake Shop in Hawaii To open a Surf’n’Shake shop, a shop that sells surf boards and ice cream in Oahu, Hawaii, the weather has to be in our favor most days of a year. A perfect spot for the shop is a place with the right balance of warm temperatures, sunny days throughout the year and just enough rain to keep the vegetation green. If those criteria are met, we can be confident that new shop will rise and shine. To ensure that we will choose the right spot, I want to make some data-driven decisions; therefore, this analysis focuses on the temperature and rainfall for the past 7 years from 2010 to 2017, specifically for June and December, the two months that are apart enough to ensure that we have a good condition year-round. In order to have enough data, I am analyzing data from six weather stations in Oahu, Hawaii.

ufos icon ufos

:alien:The purpose of this project is to build a dynamic web-page that displays UFOs sightings information for upcoming annual gathering of UFO enthusiasts in McMinnville, Oregon. There is a lot of data to display so adding filters to the table which let users to refine their search on more than one level is absolutely necessary.

world_weather_analysis icon world_weather_analysis

In this project I put together a beta version of an application for potential travel technology services that specializes in hotel and logging industry. The application collects and presents data for customers via the search page that can be filtered based on preferred travel criteria in order to find their ideal hotel anywhere in the world.
