I didn't notice reset() at the bottom of the docs, maybe worthwhile making a more verbose note about this, maybe in the Usage section?

Yes, the behavior is expected, s. that issue ... so array like sequences behave as generators.
In your case, your sequence becomes a generator where it is not possible to count the element without iterate over them.

Make use of makeResettable() and reset() methods, so you can reset the "sequence pointer" after you have used isEmpty().
