Adrift transparency is buggy

Pretty much as the title states, adrift transparency is very buggy. When loading up the game using the built in p2 auto splitter it causes it to go fully black, and when forcefully setting the background color to black in config and then closing p2, it will go clear again.

Reproduce:

• Open Adrift with transparency enabled
• Open portal 2
• Observe any changes in adrift's background color

As for config:

• Add col_background FFFFFF00 or whatever color to your config, not sure if it matters
• Open up adrift & portal 2
• After Adrift initialized with sar, close portal 2
• Observe any changes with adrift

Program doesn't run

I installed the relevant dependencies, built vtk from source, and then tried to run the adrift executable. I even tried building that from source, too, but whenever i tried, it just never opened, and there was no message in console. Not even a message in the terminal, unless i gave it working directory that didn't exist. Did i do something wrong? What am i supposed to do?
I'm using Linux Mint 21.2.
