yep, thought so too, I cannot remember any component in MODx that has this behavior (dragging something from the "content" area to the tree...the other way around, e.g. dragging elements to the "content" area from the tree, works)...I guess somebody with good extJS skills could maybe reverse that kind of behavior...

This IS absolutely awesome! would it be possible to trigger an auto refresh tree when a collection child is dropped on a non collection container? (like in the video where you have to refresh the tree after dropping to the container)
