I thought it was something else, but seems like I'm not the only one having it

Apparently, it happens to many players. Some of my friends on Hypixel also say that they get disconnected when switching servers. It doesn't happen to me, however.

Try the patcher mod. I used to have this same issue but it's been consistently fixed after adding this to my mod folder. It also fixes things like lag when blocks are moving by commands (dojo stamina test, easy trap room) and patches solvers not working when chests are a ghost item in dungeons.
