That's expected and also happens with regular website that aren't assigned with a container. It's a limitation in Firefox itself where you can't change the container of a tab but have to re-open it in a new one then close the previous one.

We do have a workaround that you can enable in the addon preferences for assigned websites. However, the same workaround hasn't been implemented for unassigned websites.

I'm going to close this issue in favor of a previous report asking to implement exactly this feature.

There seems to be a misunderstanding as I checked the supposed duplicate, but this is a different bug.

What I have reported used to work before. Now it doesn't.

This isn't a feature from Multi-Account Containers. It looks to be something from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/context-plus/.
