Agreed. It is on my list of TODOs to move the data in the info file (which is mainly the wallet description and the labels for the addresses) into the main wallet file. It is a 'relic' from the serialised walelts days.

I will probably move the data into the main wallet file but still write it out to an info file for backwards compatibility for a few months and then deprecate/ eliminate the info files.

In 0.5.13 I have tidied up the info files so that there is now just:

  • receive labels (can be stored in private key label in protobuf)
  • send labels
  • wallet version (deprecated - this is stored in the Wallet and only in the info file for backwards compatibility)
  • running backup wallet location (if missing is worked out automatically)
  • request screen last value of : address, label, amount - used in UI initialisation
  • send screen last value of : address, label, amount - used in UI initialisation

These values can be put in the extensions and then will round trip ok.
Then have a boolean in Preferences for 'Generate info files for backward compatibility'. Have this off for new installs, on for updates. Then after a few months default to off.
