Thanks @lucasfcnunes for this explaination.
When using the provided docker-compose files, the data of the postgres container is persisted in volumes. I assume you deleted them, or you setup the server in demo mode.

TL;DR
On docker, be sure to volume mount the correct path for the postgres database persistance.

Did you use docker (containers)? If so, you need to set up a volume to persist data across restarts. Storage/data inside containers is ephemeral by default.

https://docs.docker.com/storage

  • The data doesn't persist when that container no longer exists, and it can be difficult to get the data out of the container if another process needs it.

Docker has two options for containers to store files on the host machine, so that the files are persisted even after the container stops: volumes, and bind mounts.

volumes:
  # ...
  dbdata:
  # ...
services:
  # ...
  database:
    image: postgres
    container_name: postgres
    restart: always
    environment:
      POSTGRES_PASSWORD: admin
      POSTGRES_DB: openmu
      POSTGRES_USER: postgres
    ports:
      - "5432"
    volumes:
      - dbdata:/var/lib/postgresql/data
  # ...

PS: If you ever delete the volume dbdata you're gonna lose your game data.
