This would be easily circumvented on the client side by finding the python function that checks the MAC layer addresses and just returning True. I think any effort to increase security must happen on the server end.

You'd also want to do this with serial numbers of the machines instead of MAC addresses. If I use the same USB to Ethernet adapter on multiple computers, this wouldn't work, and it also breaks if a logic board gets replaced.
