• Already planned, though in a different form. Alerts will be marked read once you open the dropdown - similar to how Facebook does it
• The idea with the current implementation is that the alert is only received once per thread. Taking you to the newest unread post therefore makes sense to me
• This has been planned from the start, but implementation is slightly challenging without using a ton of queries. I'm still looking for the best way to do it.

I see. Well, Facebook-like mark-as-read feature is the best solution. No chances on getting post-specific link? I know the current method makes sense, however it would result in a more accurate MyAlerts' feature I guess.

I will consider it though it would take a few changes and others seem fairly happy with the current implementation.
