It could be a cool feature, but I feel it's more of a feature just because it's possible. I really can't see a practical case where I would feel the need myself to know how many alerts I have within a certain forum.

To me, I think, it would just make the whole expierence feel more integrated and native to both the software and the theme. It would really just add a sense of completeness, for me. I can just imagine any high quality theme having a mouse over function for forum/category titles that allows the user to quickly see how many alerts (total and unread) are in said forum.

I'll consider it, but it's really not a priority for the next beta o even the first release. Maybe I'll mention it in the development thread and see what the interest is.
