This definitely would be handy, and has come up a number of times. The technical side seems somewhat straight-forward: when you save a layout, you give it a name and we just save a filename-layoutname.cfg file for it. And then when you load a layout we just load up that file in place of the normal filename.cfg layout file.

The trickier part of this, I think, is the user interface design, and sketching out what it should look like for the user (i.e. how do they save a layout, and how do they see the list of previously saved layouts). I think the next step for this PR would be to generate a few UI sketches about how we might want to do this.

I also think this is a fairly high-priority item, as I think it'd be something that I'd use a fair bit.
