I'd also be interested to know what's the right way for waiting for the DistributedQueue and PathChildrenCache to be started as well.

Considering that it's just for tests, you could poll getParticipants() until it's got the complete list.

For DistributedQueue: maybe put a flag message of some kind and wait until you get it. PathChildrenCache takes listeners. You can also check my own tests for examples.

I mean, I could look at the count of participants, but that is not guaranteed to work... i.e. if some other participant dies before the checking node is added there will be a hang.

I'm not sure what you're asking regarding the LeaderSelector. Participants can enter the selector at any time.

I meant if i was checking on the count of participants that wouldn't work well. But with Id, I was able to get this to work.
