It seems an incompatibility between excepted and installed Kotlin kernel.

For example newer Kotlin kernels have support for inline classes that roboquant relies on. If indirectly using this feature, you might see this error. Not sure why it pop-up at a restart.

What Kotlin kernel version did you install in your notebook environment?

Thank you for your answer. I just ran a conda update for my kotlin kernel, its now working again. But I still don't understand why it pop-up this error at a restart.

Honesty, I also don't understand why it happens at a restart. Perhaps you use a roboquant snapshot release that got updated when you restarted the kernel?

I actually don't know what release i used for roboquant as i just use the the syntax %use roboquant for my kotlin notebook and it automatically load the library. Also, I couldn't use the Performance Chart on my kotlin notebook too and the error reappeared when i restart the kernel

I seem to figure out the problem. For some reasons, my robot is only at version 1.4.0 rather than 2.1.0

if you don't specify a version %use roboquant(2.1.0) you'll get the version that is specified as part of the Kotlin kernel. So an old Kotlin kernel, means an old roboquant version.

Thank you for your reply. I did it using the Anaconda Jupyter notebook and installed a Kotlin kernel. I tried to specify the version there, but it didn't work. I switched to IntelliJ IDEA and used the Kotlin notebook from there and it worked. I guess it also depends on the IDE as well.

In new version of onsite doc I'll include instructions about having to have the latest version of kotlin kernel installed on your local machine (at least until JetBrains also start releasing new versions of the stable kernel that is compatible).
