No.

The live code is far more complicated than what I have posted.

I have isolated the problem in the code I have posted.

Does the code I have posted not recreate the problem for you?

Having continued with this issue further turning modal off on the dialog fixes the problem.

However loosing the modality of the dialog is not a solution for us.

Hi I have posted a jsFiddle here: http://jsfiddle.net/marcuus/CAzmx/

But I cant get jsFiddle to actually do anything.

Also it may be relevant that turning modal off in the jqueryui dialog fixes the problem (in both cases).
