Part of this is implemented. The UI allows for marking if an upgrade in X-Wing has been used or not.

This will now add a red X next to any upgrade that has been discarded. This will indicate on the overlay that an upgrade is no longer equipped. Toggling the discard state will remove the red X. This from a visual stand point is better than showing the item as strike thru.
