@Balaviknesh I was able to solve the issue. It was becuase the 'on' handler was registered twice to the same socket. So on the next request, there are two events for the same call. One with the value and one with empty. That's the reason for the null error.
So make sure to register the handlers for the socket events only once on the socket. That's how sockets are supposed to work. Hope this helps!
