It's not very much work, just review and merge pull requests to the R chapter when they come in (happens almost never). It would be good if you at least read the R chapter yourself (shouldn't take you more than half an hour) and see if there are any omissions or things you disagree with and if so, maybe join a guide sprint at some point to correct those (or do it at a time that suits you better, or find someone else who you know is knowledgeable on the topic and ask them to do it and then review and merge their pull request).

Who would be interested in taking over the ownership of the R chapter? Maybe @bvreede or @PabRod?
