Can't tell if it is doing so already, but based on the first lines of the commit (public/src/templates.js), you do still need to use JSON.parse() on the client-side (unless .parse does it because of the mimetype automatically?). The advantage just means you don't have to use json.stringify and such on the server side.

Leaving the JSON.parse on the client side wasn't working as the data was already a javascript object, so I guess it happens automatically.
