Can we present at the workshop space?
from nodeboats-jsconf2018.
What is the size of the main pool? (and the kiddy pool)
The "Garden" area has three pools. Based on Google Maps, I'd estimate the kiddie pool to be about 18' x 18', the middle pool to be 60' x 35', and the southern pool to be 32' x 50'. I can ask the Omni for more specific measurements if you need. We've received permission to use the kiddie pool, but I can definitely push them to open up the larger pools for the main demo if that is something you'd like to do. I'm open to any idea you all come up with, I just need to convince the Omni that it'll be OK :D
What facilities do we have at the pool and what do we have at the workshop area? (Power, network, tables, sources of water, wading pools, etc)
The workshop area will remain setup just as it is for Talk Day #1. That means that each table will be wired for power (one surge protector per table) with appropriate amperage to handle multiple laptops and then some. The wireless network will also remain set up. We have warned them that our conference will certainly stress their network so they need to be prepared. They recently upgrading their pipes and are ready to give us the speeds we need. I can get specifics next time I talk with them.
AFAIK, the plastic wading pool is still in our possession. If it fails to make the move, we'll pick one up locally during our pre-conf work.
I've asked about water hook-ups before and got a quizzical look. I'll ask the Omni again about this. I'm assuming you need it to keep the wading pool filled?
The pools have WiFi provided for the guest rooms, but we requested an additional, dedicated, password-free AP down by the pools specifically for NodeBoats use.
Are we sharing a workshop space and equipment with NodeBots?
It is slightly easier for us to co-locate you with NodeBots, but we can also pull out the Air Wall to divide the space in two if you'd prefer.
Can we have a map of the space?
We can put you in Salon A-D with NodeBots, or A-C with NodeBots in D, NodeCopter in E. NodeRockets may take over F-H or we may move them to a building that is closer to their launch area.
Salon A-D and E-H will seat 500+ at 60' 10-person round tables with the stage still in place so you have an idea for seating capacity. This should be very similar to the setup at AIP.
Can we present at the workshop space?
We do not currently have any plans to run AV on this day, so I'd need to know a bit more about what you're looking to do. We are actively working with the Omni to see if we want to do our own AV or have them do it. If we run our own AV, this request should be easy. If not, we'll have to see what our options are. Can you share your plan for your presentation?
Do we have any equipment from 2015? If so what do we have? (eg, tools, equipment, and parts in a general sense)
AFAIK, we should have most of what we had in 2015. There should be plenty of things like motors and jumper wires, etc. Once we get the storage unit packed up and shipped, I may be able to provide a slightly better idea of what we have. Is there anything specific you need to ensure is available? That way we can get right to ordering it if we know we are short.
How long is the workshop? (9-5?)
Officially the workshop is listed as 9am - 6pm with time for lunch (provided) and assuming building stops at 5pm and show-n-tell starts at 6pm. Up to you if you want to start late or end early.
Where can we ship supplies?
All shipped items must have the information below clearly stated on the package.
