To decrypt KFX format, you need to download with Kindle for PC/Mac 1.26 or earlier. Best to avoid KFX format.

Rolling back did nothing. The issue here is that every January they expand the number of encryption keys.
I prefer KFX ebooks when available, but I just had the worst timing.
Time to just wait and see.

OK, it seems to work if I go one by one, but if I batch import them, it fails despite the log showing no errors.
If I tell Calibre to not treat files in subfolders as different versions of the same book when batch importing, the KFX import correctly and I just have to delete the MD files.

EDIT: OK, no. The KFX thus imported (comic books), when converted to any other format to be able to read them, show patial images, not always in the correct direction (one of the books I checked had them sideways) and most likely they are incomplete.

So DRM removal is working.

Can't really say if I'd count that as "working", but I have no way to see if it's because of the KFX input extension or a weird artifact from this one.
I've tried opening the resulting kfx files with Kindle Previewer, but it says the files are unsupported (unless I set them as kpf, which shows them as empty, or azw8, which simply converts them into nonfiles).

EDIT: I found that I could open the KFX directly with the Calibre eBook Viewer, but it seems that the weird butchering is still part of the KFX, at least for a part of the books (I've found some that are normal). Checked those files in Kindle for PC and the issue comes from the publisher.

AZW3 format tends to convert better. But if the misformatting comes from the publisher, they might also be a mess.
