Update:
1 - After talking about this with Noin, this is not an issue as the function gets called when switching between list views (performance - bulk mark as read).

Also I cannot send feedback to the UI in case of a failure. I've tried returning false, and throwing IOException / ReaderException. Couldn't get the UI to notice...
