Yes. Server components don't react to anything except changes to their props, by design.

I still think there may be something unintended - it’s not only that it doesn’t update - even on full / SSR reload useRoute will never have the correct fullPath

Server components/islands can support all the features of normal components, including shared state, access to the current route, and more. Because they behave just like normal components, you can nest them within server components or just sprinkle them through the rest of your code.

Can you clear up for me what you meant by ‘access to current route’?
