It's still possible to install v0.5.1 in the context of nvm; for example:

 cd ~/.nvm/src
 curl -O http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.5.1/node-v0.5.1.tar.gz
 cd ~
 nvm install v0.5.1

That works for me, at least.

That being said, it would be nice to see a patch so that the new nodejs.org/dist/ layout is fully supported and nvm users don't have to pull down the tar.gz files manually into nvm/src

well, the above workaround does not work for me. I tried installing v0.5.3 using above steps (explicitly download node-v0.5.3.tar.gz), still nvm install fails in 404. So nvm patch is appreciated!
