Offlineimap creates additional labels in Gmail and then complains about their UID validity

I have essentiallly the same problem, and it's making it impossible for me to make sure that the syncs are happening correctly. Also, I have two mailboxes (Gmail) that have an ampersand "&" in them: "News & Politics", e.g. These two ampersand characters are tranlated to an ampersand with trailing hyphen: "&-"

Yes. You can stop offlineimap from creating folders in the remote repository entirely. In the

[Repository gmail-remote]

or whatever you called it, put

createfolders = False

Looks like we had a working release at some point. Bisecting the bug should be made to help fixing this issue.

@nicolas33, I don't use OfflineIMAP or mutt with Gmail any more.

@ojarva, it was a functional work-around at the time.
