Most of these changes are for debugging like showing a notification when rules are applied.
There are also some other changes like the change in the
chrome.tabs.executeScript
or
chrome.tabs.insertCSS
but those aren't needed as well and will soon be replaced to chrome.scripting.insertcss/executescript

About the context menu not loading it's a bug on ff (which also exist on the original one) that it doesn't reload correctly after install (and maybe a browser restart but not sure about that one yet).
And after u reload the page u are using it on the disable & report buttons should show up again.

And what about other functions, like for the Badges and Detect content type (XML related Firefox bug)?

Will close this issue now since most of the code has been implemented now (except the notifications part but I'm going to rewrite that)
