Why exactly is that confusing? Have you definied functions in an enum which you'd like to import as well? Why exactly are those functions definied in an enum instead of a normal class?

I have a facelet tagfile that accepts enum value as an attribute value and renders its certain string representation. Instead of forcing component users to use o:importConstants each time to supply an actual enum value, my tagfile accepts a String value, and does:

<o:importFunctions value="mypackage.MyClass.MyEnum" var="MyEnum" />
<h:outputText value="#{MyEnum:valueOf(attrEnumValue).getCertainStringRepresentation()}" />

Maybe this is not a very convincing case, and the issue is not particularly important, but I it was weird, when I was able to import MyEnum with importConstants via erroneous dot notation, but then the same MyEnum could not be found with importFunctions.

What's wrong with defining methods in enums?
In my case there is a kind of serialization behavior in enum: a member method getCertainStringRepresentation for converting to String, and a static method for a reverse conversion.

That's an awkward corner case, but you've got there a point, consistency is always better.
