Ha! Good question! If I were writing the UI, I'd probably list the following properties in a side-bar:
- The property which was replaced or appended by the current property being viewed (if any)
- Any properties which directly appended this property, in date order
- Any properties which directly replaced this property, in date order
If the user clicked through to one of these replacements or appended properties, they might find THAT property had been replaced or appended, but I don't think I would try to display that until the user clicked through.
So I think, yes, you could replace a property multiple times, including abandoning and un-abandoning it.
