Are you using the Official 0.8.8 Package?

Sometimes, OpenArena versions which come with Linux Distros Repositories (apt-get etc.) do give some more headaches... using (manually downloaded) official packages fixes some issues.

I'm not telling this is the case, but however it's the first thing I would try...

Maybe it's caused by some error in configuration file or from some third-party pk3. That "verload" makes me almost think that somewhere someone mistyped the name of the "overload" gametype (also known as "obelisk" - which is what should be written in the "gametype" key in the .bsp), but who knows...

Keys or values means that there's a "gametype" "verload" key-value pair somewhere. I need to check this, because it pertains a map.
