@tarelli Google's PageSpeed Insights is not able to load localhost geppetto address to test if mod_deflate works. To test this I'll have to use live.geppetto.org and modify the tomcat from there, but maybe it's best to load another instance to test it instead of using live.geppetto.org. Also, I only been including minified versions of vendor libraries, don't think it's good idea to do the same for our files since they constantly change, and we will have to go to through the process of manually minifying each time we make changes to them.

@jrmartin ok, I won't have the time to setup an instance this week but I will open an issue to try and do it next week. As for minifying our js I agree also since they are not particularly big to be worth the hassle of having to manage the minifying process. Is there a separate branch which will need merging for getting the minified vendor ones?

@tarelli Yes, it's called optemizeresources in the frontend, just created the pull request for it

@jrmartin GeppettoTests.html seems broken?

@tarelli Forgot to update the main-test.js with minified libraries, back and running now in development

Update: Mod_deflate configuration in tomcat server is already in place, but when connecting to dev geppetto that configuration is being ignored and compression doesn't happen

I was able to fix this issue by modifying the tomcat's server configuration instead of using mod_deflate on apache.

Instructions to do so are found in here :

@jrmartin I changed live.geppetto.org but this still shows Enable compression in the "Should fix" category which is different from what happens on dev.geppetto.org. Did you have to change anything else on the dev instance in addition to this? Could you have a look when you got a chance? Thx!

@tarelli Did you try restarting the instance from amazon? I forgot to add that step on the document, but it's needed to restore tomcat settings.

@jrmartin yes I've done that
